Bradenton Beach on Anna Maria island

Bradenton Beach is on the Gulf Coast of Florida, just below St Petersburg, and slightly north of Sarasota. Cross the bridge from Cortez and you will find yourself transported to another world – to delightful Bradenton Beach. This charming coastal resort town has just 1500 locals yet it remains a vibrant friendly community where there’s always something going on.

Bradenton Beach is at the southern end of the charmingly named Anna Maria Island, which lies to the south of Tampa Bay. This beachside community has a certain unspoilt, Old Florida charm and is respectful of the bountiful natural resources of this lovely area. The city enjoys miles of flat public beaches which are often deserted. The soft sugar-white sand borders the mangrove-lined bay where calm docking and mooring makes it popular with local fishing craft. The historic city pier has a popular pastel-colored café offering a full menu, or you can pick up some fresh bait and catch something for supper. Fishing tours are available for those who are a little more ambitious. The six local parks provide picnic and beach facilities, a play area and a basketball court along with public boat ramps and plenty of access to the endless stretches of beach. The Tingley Memorial Library behind the Bradenton beach City Hall mark the Downtown area whilst Bridge Street has a range of prettily presented shops and local services in historic buildings.

With average temperatures from 72-91F in August and a pleasant 50-72F in January, Bradenton Beach continues to be a popular year-round vacation destination for families, couples and retirees. With excellent local restaurants, high quality vacation apartments and sunsets to die for, Bradenton Beach offers a chance to escape the crowded cities and relax, yet is within a short drive of all Florida’s main entertainment and attractions.
